💡 3 Prompting Tips
Prompt Tip #1: Adding Synthetic Examples
Adding examples into your prompt is the best way to improve it.
But it takes a lot of time to craft examples.
Here's how to do it 10x faster:
1. Generate "synthetic" examples with AI
2. Add them back into your prompt
3. Tell AI if they were good or bad and why— Moritz Kremb (@moritzkremb)

Prompt Tip #2: Add a Thinking Step
Add a thinking step into your prompt.
Before any instruction, task or goal:
1. Tell the AI explicity to think about it
2. Tell the AI to output it in a <thinking> section before the main responseSimple way to improve your response quality

Prompt Tip #3: Turn chat to prompt
Another ChatGPT tip:
At the end of your chat...
Tell ChatGPT to summarize everything in your chat and turn it into a prompt.
Now you've compressed all of your instructions into one prompt.
Next time you need the exact same instructions: use that prompt.

🔧 AI Tool Deep Dive to turn your prompts into prompt chains
Last week I shared a research paper about how prompt chaining outperforms stepwise prompting.
Prompt chains are basically multiple prompts chained together, whereas stepwise prompting is having one large prompt that includes several step-by-step instructions.
In this post I share a tool and a workflow to turn your prompts into a prompt chain:
(P.S. In case you missed it, I also wrote about prompt chaining in more detail on this newsletter this week.)

🧪 AI Research Paper
One of the most common prompting advice is to use a “role” in your prompt.
In this thread I show you, why this is not always the best thing to do:
Be careful when using a role in your prompt
A recent study shows that in some cases it actually degrades performance when a role is added
