🧠 How to use AI to help you with your decision-making

Think about what making the right decision really means. It means:

• Drawing in the right information

• Considering all the different possibilities

• And then deciding to go with the path that has the perceived highest likelihood of reaching your goal

Importantly, it's still YOU making the decision. And you are an accumulation of all the little bits of information and experiences you've made.

Now when you do a consulting session with an expert or a coach, in the hope that they will guide you towards the right decision, it's essentially the coach "injecting" you with different ideas or ways you haven't thought about or know to be right.

These can then change your perspective, and you can take a hopefully better path because of that.

But a good coach is usually just helping you think of the right questions to ask yourself and giving you that missing perspective.

And the cool thing is, AI has the capability to do that too.

When you use AI, you can:

• Gain new ideas you hadn’t thought of

• Get different perspectives you hadn't considered

• Question some of the assumptions you had made before

But what makes AI potentially even more powerful than a "real" expert

→ You can use as many experts as you like.

And you can be strategic about letting experts with different specialties come together so that you can cover the widest range of perspectives possible.

So how exactly do you do this? Let's dive into the prompt I have designed for this.

🤖 The "Experts Roundtable" Prompt

This prompt will help you make a decision by creating an expert roundtable discussion between you and your chosen experts. You can:

1. Define as many experts to be part of this discussion as you want

2. Then go into a discussion with them

3. The experts will ask you about the problem you're facing and help you find answers

The cool thing is: The experts will stay true to their known views.

For example, if you choose Elon Musk, he will challenge you to think about the bigger picture. If you pick Alex Hormozi, he will challenge you to think about your metrics and your offer and so on.

Here's the full prompt:

I’m trying to make an important decision. To do that I want to talk to some of my favorite CEOs, authors, philosophers or fictional characters, to get their advice about how I should move forward.

These are the people I want to be there:
- [Expert 1]
- [Expert 2]
- [Expert 3]

Follow these steps:

1. Start the discussion with a participant asking me to describe my situation. Wait until I provide my answer
2. The participants can ask me further clarifying questions if there is context missing.
3. When there is enough context available, the participants should offer me their advice while staying true to their known views. But avoid having the participants directly tell me what to do. Instead, they should offer insights, ask more probing questions, or suggest frameworks for thinking about the decision.

How to use this prompt:

1. Copy and paste the prompt into your LLM of choice (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini)

2. Fill in the variables for [Expert 1], [Expert 2], and [Expert 3] (and more if you like) with your chosen experts. (Tip: If you need inspiration which experts to use, open up a separate window and just ask the AI for some recommendations.)

3. Run the prompt and start the discussion

Here's a snippet from my roundtable discussion (on Gemini) with Elon Musk, Alex Hormozi, and Shaan Puri:

As you can see, the discussion forces me to think about my situation critically and from many different angles.

Personally, it gave me a lot of clarity, and I think everyone should be doing this on a regular basis, whether you're running a business or trying to get ahead in your career.

I’ll add that sometimes it’s important pause and really think about what you read critically. It can be easy to instinctively "dismiss" it, because it came from an AI, but then you might miss out on questioning old assumptions you have or overlooking something that’s actually important.
