Hello and welcome back to The Prompt Warrior!

As always, my mission is to transform you into a ChatGPT expert by providing valuable tips, insightful examples, and effective best practices.

In this episode, we'll explore using ChatGPT for brainstorming. This is one of the most powerful applications of ChatGPT, and with a few tricks, you can unlock even more of this amazing capability.

Let's jump in.

💡 Generate 20 ideas

When requesting ChatGPT to generate ideas, always ask for multiple suggestions. It is likely that some ideas may not be suitable, but the more options you have, the better the chances are of finding a good one.

I typically request 20 ideas and find that it strikes a good balance between efficiency and quality.

Prompt:

"Generate 20 ideas for [enter your topic]"

You'll notice that some ideas are good, while others may not be suitable for my newsletter. Among these ideas, I like about five. This is where I will continue to fine-tune the results.

Follow-up prompt:

"I like ideas [enter ideas you liked], generate 20 more ideas that are similar to those."

Although still not all ideas are perfect, they are better than the initial output. You can continue fine-tuning or iterating until you are satisfied with the results.

🧠 Use brainstorming frameworks

Using established brainstorming frameworks is an effective hack to get ChatGPT’s creative juices flowing.

Prompt:

"Using the [5 Whys, SCAMPER, Six Thinking Hats, Mind Mapping, Starbursting] framework, brainstorm the following topic: [enter your topic]"

And if you need more brainstorming frameworks, just ask ChatGPT.

👩‍🎨 Utilize your panel of experts

A helpful technique for encouraging ChatGPT to consider various perspectives is to simulate a panel of experts assisting you in brainstorming.

Prompt:

"We are in a brainstorming session with:

- A marketing expert
- A sales expert
- A product expert

Each expert should come up with 10 ideas on [your topic]"
